Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £250M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster, where we have a requirement for a permanent Product Safety Engineer reporting to the Design Authority Team Leader within the Development team. The successful candidate will work as part of a team on projects spanning from concept design, demonstration, development, qualification and production, through to customer in-service support.
Rocket motors combine in one system many diverse scientific and engineering principles. The motor structure must be lightweight yet able to resist the extreme pressures and temperatures associated with propellant combustion. The operational environments are equally severe combining extremes of temperature, mechanical vibration and shock. Although specialist engineers support the Product Safety Engineers, this role offers a unique and stimulating opportunity for engineers willing and able to broaden their knowledge and experience. A Product Safety Engineer is methodical and organised in their work and is responsible to define the justification of designing and producing safe and suitable rocket motors for in-service use. As the product safety engineer you will own the day-to-day delivery of safety engineering activities, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety and comply with applicable regulations. Depending on experience, a successful candidate will be offered a position as either a Lead or Senior Product Safety Engineer.
