Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £250M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we now have a requirement for a Commercial Officer.
The Commercial & Bid Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of contracts and commercial agreements between Roxel UK and its customers. The Commercial Officer’s responsibility is to ensure that professional standards of commercial practice are maintained on behalf of Roxel. The Commercial Officer is responsible for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders and customers during the generation of bids and agreeing contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the creation and management of bids and commercial contracts in a robust and timely manner, ensuring commercial risks to Roxel UK are transparent, minimised and/or mitigated where possible.
• Participate in the negotiation of Terms and Conditions and other contracting arrangements with customers covering the supply of products and services. Certifying that bids to customers are underpinned by robust and valid supplier quotations and in accordance with governance practices.
• Manage interfaces with internal stakeholders and customers throughout the defined winning business process from strategic reviews and the generation of bids through to contract acceptance.
• Update and maintain legal terms and conditions and standards relating to contracts.
• Ensure compliance with company processes and policy for Procurement, Statutory Legal Obligations, Ethical Standards and corporate governance relating to international trading legislation and controls associated with materials and products.
• Support customers in understanding our proposals, payment plans, milestones, liaising with bid project managers and the management of risk registers as appropriate.
• Working knowledge of MoD contracting methods and processes.
• Attend appropriate training courses, conferences and associated events to ensure an up to date knowledge of commercial and legal practices.
• Provide interface with the external legal and other subject matter experts as required.
• Participate in the generation and validation of a five-year business plan.
• Promote zero harm objective by operating in accordance with any Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors and pro-actively promote and support SWIM.
• Perform any other duties necessary, as requested to by the business to carry out job function.
Experience and Background
Qualification:
Essential Qualifications
o Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent in related subject such as Business or Engineering.
Desirable Qualifications
o Professional membership of relevant institute.
Experience:
Essential Experience
o Minimum of 5 years in commercial/bid team environment generating commercial offers for customers.
o IT literate with experience of working with Microsoft Office tools and project management tools; Primavera would be an advantage.
Desirable Experience
o Experience of bids and commercial management in Defence, Automotive or Manufacturing Engineering environment.
o Experience of Managing within a EN9100 or Quality Management System culture.
