Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we now have a requirement for a Cell Leader in the Hardware Department.
The Cell Leaders responsibilities includes the daily leadership and line management of the manufacturing team focusing on safe operations, supporting employees, co-ordinating production operations, ensuring the quality of goods and services, and preparing all relevant documentation as required in a safe and efficient way.
You will have experience and knowledge that ensures effective process utilisation, maximising day to day productivity. You will monitor the Teams performance with KPI’s, ensuring quality is maintained, meeting the needs of the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Promote zero harm objective by operating in accordance with any Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures (SWIM) to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors and pro actively promote and support SWIM
• Ensure safe methods of working are utilised in all processes targeting zero harm.
• Maintain and carry out Risk and COSHH assessments as required in conjunction with Cell Management and Technical Support
• Complete SHE Plan returns / safety records in as required in a timely manner
• Carry out duties as a Building Owner
• Provide instruction, guidance and support to production teams and other internal customers as necessary, regarding task allocation, technical and quality issues to maintain continuous manufacture including driving resolution of issues by being pro-actively challenging of other departments as required
• Co-ordinate the team to maximise efficiency through direct bookable work
• Ensure manufacturing processes are adhered to at all times. Audit operator against the process ensuring adherence
• Support Process Operatives to resolve issues such as breakdowns and other manufacturing issues and inputting into other systems when appropriate, e.g. Shire, Dynamic, etc. Manage permit to works as required
• Be data driven to generate daily work task lists, working alongside the Planning and MRP department.
• Ensuring Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are accurately adhered to ensuring data accuracy at all times.
• Champion the use of Qualaxy and support and train others to use Qualaxy as required. Provide support to resolve Qualaxy issues in the 1st instance. NOTE: currently only in HW but will roll-out to all areas
• Ensuring production standards including TPM and other site regulations are adhered to
• Champion and promote 6S and Lean methodology, through training and continued coaching, thus ensuring a well organised working environment confirmed by auditing
• Conduct Level 1 (Quick Response Quality Control) QRQC and SQCDPI daily meetings, provide support / lead, to Level 2 as required to escalate issues appropriately
• Provide input to the MRP Team & Logistics to ensure site supplies and inventory levels are suitably maintained targeting zero outages, maintain level of consumables and escalate as required
• Control special waste as appropriate, ensuring that waste types are clearly and correctly segregated, identified, labelled and stored appropriately
• Maintain records, report relevant information, and preparing any necessary documentation, including but not limited to Route Cards, Skill Points Documentation, Training Records, maintaining an audit ready status
• Provide support, input, guidance for the implementation of new products or processes, embracing new ways of working
• Encourage a continuous improvement culture supported by the CI team.
• Co-ordinate with other stakeholders including Line Management and other Site Departments, ensuring high levels of communication throughout the business.
• Represent the business as required, in particular conduct area tours and / or provide information during external stakeholder visits
• To perform any other duties necessary, as requested to by the business to carry out job function
People Management

Experience and Background
Qualification:
Essential Qualifications
o 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above or equivalent (inl Maths and English).
Desirable Qualifications
o ILM L3 Qualification or willingness to work towards.
o IOSH Managing Safely Qualification or willingness to work towards.
o A minimum level of Yellow Belt Qualification or equivalent in Lean Manufacturing Techniques or willingness to work towards.
Experience:
Essential Experience
o Can demonstrate experience of working within a manufacturing / warehouse environment
o Strong IT competencies with experience of working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word and Outlook) and MRP/ MES Systems.
o Can demonstrate experience of successfully managing a team.
Desirable Experience
o Managing within a Lean Culture e.g. SQCDPI techniques, Kaizen, Kanban, 7 waste principles
o Worked within a strong Health and Safety environment, carrying out Risk and COSHH Assessments
o Managing within an EN9100 or Quality Management System culture.
