Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover over £150M and nearly 1000 staff, 300 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield Kidderminster where we currently have a two vacancies for a Materials Planning and Logistics (MP&L) Planner.
The MP&L Planner will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials and the effective scheduling of production to meet customer demand, minimise costs and maintaining optimal inventory levels. This role requires a balance of tactical material ordering and strategic production scheduling, ensuring availability of parts while maximising manufacturing efficiency.
The role is to plan, coordinate and expedite the parts and materials required to support production schedules, including the analysis of MRP planning outputs, confirming parts and materials schedules and expediting parts and materials from suppliers inclusive of all clearance activities with support from material technical authorities. Also to manage inventory levels, shelf lifes, optimise material flow and maintain accurate system data to support efficient supply chain operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure parts and materials are available to support production plans in all areas of manufacturing but running and maintaining the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
2. Convert demand and production plans into material purchase requirements.
3. Raise and manage purchase orders with suppliers in line with lead times and inventory policies.
4. Liaise closely with suppliers to track deliveries, resolve shortages & expedite where necessary and liaise with Procurement, Quality and other departments as required to resolve any supply issues.
5. Develop, maintain and optimise production schedules to balance customer demand with resource capacity.
6. Monitor production performance again the plan and adjust as required to maintain delivery commitments whilst coordinating with other teams to resolve issues affecting output.
7. Maintain master data parameter accuracy in the MRP system to ensure parts and materials are scheduled to include time necessary for internal testing and quality assurance etc.
8. Ensure that materials with a shelf life are maintained and available as required, co-ordinating re-lifing (via Material Technical Authorities) or purchase as required.
9. Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory. Review slow-moving, excess and obsolete stock regularly and propose actions. Support new product launches and phase-outs, ensuring smooth transition of materials.
10. Manage and report on non-conformance impacts to materials and production schedules
11. Support cycle counting and annual stock takes as required and maintain data accuracy and integrity.
12. Provide accurate and timely management reporting of KPIs.
13. Continually seek improvements relative to inventory and supply, and make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve methods.
14. Ensure Health and Safety standards for all incoming materials are fully communicated and understood.

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND
Qualification:
Essential Qualifications
o A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above (must include Maths & English)
o Have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desirable Qualifications
o CiPs or equivalent
Experience:
Essential Experience
o Strong knowledge and experience of MRP/EPR systems (Tropos would be an advantage)
o Excellent organisational and time management skills
o Extensive experience of working in a material planning and/or production planning environment
Desirable Experience
o Have previous experience of providing a positive contribution in driving change
o Continuous improvement; analysing the causes of concerns and developing countermeasures to root causes
