08.00-16.30 Monday to Thursday (30mns lunch break)
08.00-13.00 Friday (no lunch break)

Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £100M and nearly 700 staff.

 

We currently have 2 apprentice vacancies within the Engineering Team at Roxel UK. One apprentice will be based in the Materials Team reporting to the Energetics and Materials Manager and the second apprentice will be within the Laboratory Team reporting to the Lab Manager.

 

These are fantastic opportunities for self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals to develop their skills and build a career at Roxel UK. You will gain an overall awareness and appreciation of the defence industry by supporting key areas such as design, development and manufacturing of rocket motors as well as developing specific skills in a lab based environment, developing knowledge in the materials and energetics used to produce the products we make.

 

We have identified different options for the qualification element of the apprenticeship and they are:

 

1. Level 4 Advanced Apprenticeship in Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives at The University of Wales (Swansea). This course is delivered via block release. With this qualification, you have the option for further study to a Level 6 or 7 qualification. Applicants will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs (minimum Grade 4 – old grade C), including Maths, Science and English for this qualification.

 

2. Materials Degree Apprenticeship at The University of Sheffield, delivered via block release. The entry requirement for this course can be found at www.shu.ac.uk/study-here/higher-and-degree-apprenticeships/engineering/materials-technology.

 

3. Chemistry Degree Apprenticeship at The University of Wolverhampton, delivered via day release. Applicants will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (minimum Grade 4 – old grade C), including Maths, Science and English plus 3 A’Levels including one in a science related field, ideally Chemistry for this qualification.

 

The successful candidate will need to be a good communicator, have good IT Skills and be a team player. We expect positive attitude, self-motivation and enthusiasm
