Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we now have a requirement for a Quality Inspector.
The purpose of this role is to assure the quality of products throughout the product lifecycle with Roxel UK. This role will support the product lifecycle quality assurance through the complete production process, taking responsibility for ensuring that processes and procedures are in place and adhered to in relation to product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform Final Assembly Inspection Reports (FAIR) to ensure product conformity to Quality Standards.
• Write Non-conformance reports and support investigations into technical issues.
• Carry out inspection of rework once completed.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Production Engineering and Design Authority to improve processes when required.
• Manage own workload, liaising with the relevant Cell Leaders to identify and complete inspections in a timely manner.
• Generate, collate, update, maintain and complete FAIR’s using Visual Fair.
• Creation and management of CMM Programs, probes and software updates.
• Problems Solve CMM errors, issues and collisions.
• Conduct manual inspections using hand tools (micrometres, height gauges, shadowgraph) to verify that parts and assemblies meet required specifications.
• Working in conjunction with relevant quality engineers and other stakeholders, create inspection methods for non-standard Inspections.
• Carry out internal Audits upon requested in-line with Internal Audit Schedule.
• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements associated with the role, following the SWIM process when required to highlight concerns.
• Additional responsibilities and projects as required by the business.
Experience and Background
Qualification:
Essential Qualifications
o Apprenticeship Level or Equivalent in an Engineering Discipline.
Desirable Qualifications
o HNC or equivalent in Engineering, or extensive experience in an Aerospace quality organization.
o Formal Internal Auditor qualification for AS/EN9100.
Experience:
Essential Experience
o Previous proven experience within a Quality Inspection role within a Manufacturing and / or Engineering organisation.
o Experience of operating a CMM, including programming.
o FAIR Generation and Collation.
o Proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings.
o Able to demonstrate extensive experience with inspection and measuring equipment.
o Experience of using Root Cause Analysis Tools (8Ds, 5 Whys etc).
Desirable Experience
o Knowledge of Quality Processes (PPAP, APQP, Six Sigma) is advantageous.
o Experience of working within an A/ENS9100 Aerospace Quality System.
o Experience with Lean initiatives would also be beneficial.
