Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover over £150M and nearly 1000 staff, 300 in the UK.

 

The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield Kidderminster.

 

Reporting to the Qualaxy Project Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the roll-out and implementation of Qualaxy to all areas of Roxel UK. In addition, this role is responsible for providing support to ongoing process improvements and problem resolution in the Qualaxy System.

 

The role will require involvement with key stakeholders in the Operational and Quality areas as well as liaison with the Roxel France Qualaxy Team.

 

The Qualaxy Project Engineer role is required to enable Roxel to develop and enhance the MES (Qualaxy) in order to enable operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– User management – create new users, delete old users, maintain user permissions, maintain different types of user profile to meet business needs.
– Process configuration – aid with new process creation and existing process updates, advise on configuration to aid usability for operations and quality departments, instigate discussions with key stakeholders where existing documentation and/or common practice contradict, configure new processes alongside the production engineers, trial and share new configuration functionality to meet business needs.
– Process validation – advise on the validation process, provide guidance as required to validators to allow them to clearly understand the changes they are approving, ensure the correct embodiment point for process changes once validated, monitor outstanding validations and chase approvers where required.
– New process introduction – check configurations for consistency of approach, ensure review with production engineering has been carried out and all actions arising have been completed, ensure shop trial has been carried out and all actions arising completed, complete dynamic form to transfer paper to Qualaxy attaching the shop trial route card where possible.
– Software version updates – arrange with IT team and software provider for version updates to be loaded onto test server, trial updates in test environment. If trials completed satisfactorily arrange for live version updates. Feedback and follow-up all issues identified with software provider.
– Interfacing – identify potential interface points to drive business efficiency/quality, scope the interfacing requirements, liaise with IT team, internal stakeholders and external software companies as required to deliver interface, test trial and roll out new interfaces.
– Non-Configuration modules – train and give orientation as required on Process (WO) dashboard and NCMS modules, be a point of contact for troubleshooting and revolving issues, raise and manage issues with software provider as required. Additional duties or tasks as requested by the business requirements.
– Ensure SharePoint is kept up to date and is maintained at all times.
– Take responsibility for Health and Safety in Roxel UK.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above (must include Maths & English)

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • HNC/ HND / Degree level or equivalent in an Engineering discipline

 

Experience:

Essential Experience

      • Excellent IT skills

 

Desirable Experience

      • Manufacturing and Engineering background
      • Defence industry manufacturing

 

Person Specification

      • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels
      • Will ideally come from an Engineering/Manufacturing background
      • Must be innovative, highly motivated and ready to drive change throughout the organisation
      • Computer literate with sound knowledge of MS Office Word / Excel / Powerpoint etc
