08.00-16.30 Monday to Thursday (30mns lunch break)
08.00-13.00 Friday (no lunch break)
Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £100M and nearly 700 staff.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster, where we have a vacancy for a Continuous Improvement Engineer.
The purpose of this role is to support the management and facilitation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives across the organisation. The role will work across functional departments to improve production and support processes in line with business needs and growth. This person will be a change agent with the courage and drive to champion improvement within the business with the ability to motivate others to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work with the Continuous Improvement Manager to drive continuous improvement within the business and identify opportunities for improvement including deployment of Operational Excellence Initiative, Customer Improvement projects, Lean Journey & QRQC.
2. Drive engagement with Participative Innovation across the business.
3. Working with the Continuous Improvement Manager – creating, organizing and delivering training to the targeted scope.
4. Active involvement in project identification, prioritisation, progress monitoring, tracking of results and reporting findings across the organisation using Lean techniques.
5. Ensure all completed continuous improvement projects are embedded and sustained
6. Actively engage with peers internally and across the group to share and ensure best practice implementation
7. Use agreed metrics to validate the requirement for projects and recommendation of resource allocation
8. Support operational performance enhancement through the application of Lean techniques
9. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional teams working collaboratively to drive improvement programmes
10. Project implementation and management
Skills and Experience
• Systematic problem solver with the ability to implement solutions, undertake root cause analysis and instigate/manage change
• Demonstrate competence of project delivery through application of continuous improvement practices
• Green belt qualified (not essential but desirable) aspiring to black belt or proven experience of project implementation
• Ability to manage and organise multiple projects at any one time
• Excellent communication skills to present effective and persuasive arguments/presentations on complex topics
• Good level of technical knowledge regarding continuous improvement methodologies
• Positive and proactive approach to challenges and change management
• A passion for continuous improvement with strong influencing skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Perseverance
